Set of Custom Cut V6 Red 8mm Taylor spark plug wires (Will NOT fit Firebird / Camaro / Grand National)

One brand new set of custom length Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Spark Plug Wires. Includes 6 spark plug wires and 1 distributor wire with boots and ready to install. (7 wires total). Pictured above is a set of these custom Taylor wires installed on my own Fiero. The boots fit inside the factory metal boot heat shields. Your set will be new never installed, of course.
These are custom cut using Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wire supplied to me by Taylor. No box is included.
Three Options Available:
1) Set of Red Wires WITH Black/Black Boots: Distributor Cap Boots = BLACK, Spark Plug Boots = BLACK
2) Set of Red Wires WITH Black/Orange Boots: Distributor Cap Boots = BLACK, Spark Plug Boots = ORANGE
3) Set of Red Wires WITH NO Boots: Just the custom cut Taylor wires. You provide your own boots from an old set of 8mm wires.*
- If you don’t want the boots on the Taylor Wires, and want to reuse your own boots, that option is now available. Be advised that standard Fiero wires are 7mm and these are 8mm so your old boot openings will need to be enlarged slightly to get them on these 8mm wires, or you can use your own 8mm boots.
4) Set of BLUE Wires WITH Black/Black Boots: Distributor Cap Boots = BLACK, Spark Plug Boots = BLACK
- I have one set of these and most likely will not ever make any more in this color.
Q) What is the difference between my wires and the Taylor Box 74224 set listed for the Pontiac Fiero?
A) Both our sets use the same Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wire. The wire is supplied by Taylor Cable and then cut to the perfect lengths, while the Taylor boxed set labelled as custom for the Fiero are actually assembled using one size fits all wires that fit other applications as well such as Camaro and Grand National which have the ignition coil in a different location and thus have wires that are not the ideal length for a Fiero.
Q) Why buy a custom cut length wires from me rather than the 74224 Taylor Fiero box set?
A) My set is measured based on the original Packard factory red wires that came from Pontiac off my 18,000 mile 88 Fiero GT. The Taylor 74224 Fiero “custom” box set is assembled using one size fits all wires to fit multiple V6 applications. For example, the Taylor 74224 Fiero distributor coil wire is more than twice as long as the original Fiero red coil wire from Pontiac/Packard. Mine is the perfect length to fit from the distributor to the ignition coil without a lot of extra material flopping around. That’s nearly a foot extra for the spark to travel, a visual eye sore and a dead giveaway that you’re not using your OEM factory red Packard wires.
Example Using Real Values for Cylinder 3:
Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wires are 350 Ohms of resistance per foot for both my set and the 74224 Taylor box.
Take spark plug wire #3. In the Taylor 74224 box, the cylinder wire is about an inch and a half longer than the original Pontiac OEM wires. The spark for cylinder 3 is traveling the extra 9+ inches for the coil wire (see above) plus the 1.5 inches for the cylinder wire for a total of about 11 inches. The wires are the same material but with my custom cut lengths the spark is actually traveling 35% shorter distance and has 35% less resistance as a result. For cylinder #3 the Taylor 74224 set is about 1133 Ohms of resistance, in my custom set it is about 839 Ohms of resistance. This is calculated using the Taylor wire value of 350 Ohm’s per foot for both sets and agrees with my multimeter.
Further Customization Available:
